What’s this? A post?

What’s this? What’s this?

So…about the post-apocalyptic snow that’s going on right now. And some other things as well.

Normally I wouldn’t bother because it snows every year, and there’s always news stories on it – here’s some kids sledging because the schools are closed, here’s a snowman, here’s some people stuck on a road – that could just be the same footage repeated every year. But there’s seriously three feet of it out there, so I want it to be known for posterity that I said holyjeebuswow that’s lots of snow.

I’ve been stuck in the house since Friday, by the way. I miss college! And I don’t know what I’m supposed to be doing so I can’t do work-at-home stuff, either. Buggrit. So I got to sit at home, listen to the Cabaret and Grease soundtracks and draw pictures of Batman, who cares? I’m MISSING ART SCHOOL. WAHHHHH.

I tried to make up for it a bit by experimenting with snow-man making.* I got photos of the first one (see below).

After that I tried making a massive lump of snow and cutting into it to make the figure (instead of building it up like one would with clay). It didn’t work so well because the snow kept coming off in lumps that made the thing look like it had been attacked with a machine gun.

Then I tried doing a relief-style one on the ground, but it was snowing so much it got buried by the time I got to the arms. D:

Overall, I don’t think I’ve got a career in snow-sculpting. Maybe I should stick to Silversmithing. Especially as that’s possible to do all year round here…

That said, I was told recently that I shouldn’t be doing Silversmithing because I drew a picture and didn’t think that translating it into 3D forms would achieve anything. Boo me. I suppose I should feel I need to justify my choice of specialism by relentlessly relating everything in a general first year course to it, even if it makes the end product less effective…?

At least I’ve got people telling me what to do to rebel against, that’s always good for the old creative development. đŸ˜›

And now, here’s some pictures: Snow, course work and some mini-paintings…

Collage thing. Coursework...

Non coursework derivative traditional tame rubbish that I'm not supposed to be interested in. Also known as mini study of the top of the Seven Works of Mercy, Caravaggio.

This is about actual size, same with the one below. I’m a Renaissance fangirl. *squeal*

More mini-painting...I love slightly silly baroque sculpture...

SNOW TIME

His name is Mister Frosted Nipples.

He was later picked up and rolled around by one of the childer, and is now buried under a further foot or so of snow. Which is still falling.

It looks like Santa's Christmas Village.

There's icicles as long as my arms.

I may go out adventuring later on, and post about  my travels. That is, if I don’t freeze to death.
